Use CCleaner To Clean Your PC

CClearner allows you to be more particular about which junk files you want to routinely delete without overwhelming you with too many options. With it you can save the good cookies and junk files, such as the recent documents display on your Start button.

There is an interesting post that discussed using CCleaner. You would run CCleaner just before you defrag your hard disk or scan it with a scanner. Since it is pointless to defrag or scan junk files, running CCleaner will speed up these other programs. The only thing that would allow a junk file cleaner like CCleaner to actually speed up your personal computer is its very basic feature of emptying out your temporary Internet files folder.

CCleaner under Cleaner options has two tabs: Windows and Applications. On the Windows Tab, I would suggest that you deselect Recent Documents under Windows Explorer. Under the Applications Tab, I would suggest that you deselect both Internet History and Save Form information for FireFox, assuming that you are currently using the FireFox web browser.

CCleaner has a Tools option which comes with a bare bones Startup Manager that we will soon be using in a future post.

The most tedious thing to set up in CCleaner is Cookies. Select the Options option, and then cookies. There is no easy way to do this. Basically, you have to select cookie by cookie all those cookies that you do not want deleted on an individual basis. Essentially, you want to save the cookies for any website that you regularly visit and participate in. This especially applies to any website that you want to have them remember your password, and stay logged in. You just have to scan through the long list of cookies and move any that you recognize and want to keep to the Cookies to Keep side.

Keeping track of cookies is why you would want to be using only one junk file cleaner on your PC. In other words, once you have CCleaner configured the way that you want it then you must turn off the Cookie / Junk File / Privacy Cleaning options on all your other utilities.
