Text is King – Eye Candy Doesn’t Impress Google
People use search engines to search for information most of the time. That is why Google indexes only text when it crawls your website. Always remember that text is what counts in the search engines when adding cool eye-candy features to your site.
Never automatically assume that your website is accessible to a wide variety of visitors to your website who will be accessing your web pages from a variety of different environments.
Never forget that Google does not index video on websites unless you remember to add text to your webpages. Be sure to add transcripts of your videos or at least introductory text teasers in a format that can be indexed by search engines.
Websites that tend to stress cool looking pictures are especially prone to totally ignore text on their pages. While SEO is usually about optimizing your existing content this is one situation where your page content has to be radically rethought, if not out right created, because there is absolutely nothing to index unless you give Google something to index on your pages. Be sure to add text that discusses all those beautiful pictures which cannot speak for themselves.
Flash websites, like the Blair Witch Project, specially need to add text navigation menus, as well as text for visitors to read.
Good search engine optimization of your webpages will simultaneously increase their accessibility to the visually impaired because Google is totally blind..

In natural organic search engine optimization, content is always considered King.
But, in reality only good well written search engine optimized text is King. So, nobody is saying that relevancy is not important. Relevancy is simply a part of the content optimization process.
